We are so excited to welcome back our members (age 13+) for indoor workouts at all our branches!

Read on to learn more about what you can expect when you return to the Y, and the protocols and procedures we have in place to keep you safe!

NEW Delta Variant Mask Update:

As you may have seen in the news, transmission of the new Delta variant is on the rise, and Bay Area counties are recommending masks indoors for both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons. Since your health is always a priority, our Y will follow this recommendation.

Masks will be required for everyone at the Y regardless of vaccination status as of Monday, July 19.
 
While vaccines remain our best tool against COVID-19, masking in indoor and crowded outdoor settings will help us curb the spread of this latest wave of infection.

Indoor Lap Swimming

Indoor pools at Downtown Berkeley and Oakland Y branches are now open for Lap Swimming and Water Walking! Downtown Berkeley and Oakland Y members age 13+ can reserve 30-40 minute swim sessions.

Grace’s Pool Hours (Downtown Berkeley):
Mon - Fri, 7:15 am - 11:00 am | Sat, 8:15 am -11:10 am

Key Details to Note:

  • Please plan to arrive in your swimming attire
  • Please bring your own towel
  • Lap Pool lanes will be shared between two members
  • Lap Pool reservations will be specifically designated as either Lap Swim or Water Walking lanes. Members must sign up for the type of reservation they will be using. Swimming in water walking lanes or walking in swimming lanes will not be allowed. For members that exercise using both swimming and walking should reserve the type that they primarily use.
  • Only one swimmer per lane is permitted in Grace’s Pool right now.
  • Grace’s Pool is a warm water pool and is appropriate for low-to-moderate exercise only. Full lap lanes will not be available in Grace’s Pool
  • Grace’s Pool reservations will be specifically designated as Shallow Lane or Deep Lane. Please select the appropriate pool depth for your ability and desired workout.

Reserve Your Swim Session:
Reserve your session using the YMCA of the East Bay App or through the schedules page on our website. Sessions can be booked 24 hours in advance.

For safety purposes right now, members may only reserve swim sessions at their home branch.

 

Outdoor Lap Swimming

The outdoor pool at the Pleasant Hill YMCA is open for Lap Swimming and Water Walking and Pleasant Hill members age 13+ can reserve a 30 minute swim session.

The outdoor pool is open Monday - Friday from 6:00 am - 6:45 pm and Saturday - Sunday from 8:00 am - 12:15 pm.

Before You Arrive

Member Waiver and Agreement:
Before your first workout session at the Y, please review and sign this electronic member agreement and waiver.

Staying Safe Together

Social Distancing
We will be strictly adhering to social distancing protocol. In most cases the equipment is spaced 10 ft apart and we ask members to workout 10 ft from others.

Cleaning
We have cleaned every single surface within the Y, and every piece of equipment during our closure.  Cleaning materials will be given to members to sanitize their equipment prior to and after use. Staff will also clean all equipment throughout the day.

Additional Safety Measures
All staff will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. In accordance with CDC guidelines regarding travel, we are asking members to stay home from the Y if they have traveled out of state in the last 14 days. Showers will be closed during this time. Bathrooms and water bottle refill stations will remain open. We encourage you to bring as few non-essential items into the gym as possible.
