Supporting Healthy Communities

The YMCA of the East Bay is committed to ensuring our communities have access to a quality education and health care, safe and healthy homes, adequate employment and transportation, as well as physical activity and nutrition. Improving the health of our communities is the cornerstone of our mission and we will offer people of all ages ways to manage, maintain, or regain their health.

Annual gifts to Healthy Communities provide resources that we can put to use immediately toward our priorities to improve individual and community well-being.

Health & Fitness

Fitness and well-being activities at the Y go well beyond just pumping iron and working out. With five safe health & wellness gym facilities, we provide a variety of programs online through our virtual Y and in-person, from preventative disease care to nutrition, led by our expert staff to nurture a healthy mind, body, and soul.

Swim Lessons

The Y provides children across the U.S. with access to swim lesson and water safety education. We teach thousands of children, especially those most at-risk of drowning, invaluable water safety and swimming skills each year.

Diabetes Prevention Program

A YMCA trained lifestyle coach facilitates small groups of adults to discuss ways to improve the health of participants. The program consists of 25 one-hour sessions and covers the following: Healthy Eating, Increasing Physical Activity, and Losing Weight.

CPR / First Aid and AED

CPR and First Aid training teaches you to effectively give emergency care to infants, children, and adults. Upon completion of training, participants receive official certification.

Financial Aid

It is our goal and mission that everyone has access to the services provided by the Y; nobody is turned away for lack of funds at any of our programs or health and wellness centers. We offer financial assistance to anyone who needs it.
